    Walk In's and Reservations

Due to the ongoing problems regarding staffing at the DVLA we are currently not accepting any 'walk in' on the day hires and do require all rentals to be pre-booked either by ringing us on 01772 888777 or by calling into our office before the hire date.

As per normal a credit or debit card must be used to reserve a vehicle, but please make sure that your dates are correct as the full hire payment will be taken straight away and is non-refundable at that point in case of any alterations or cancellations.

Finally, on collection of any vehicle you do need to provide at least two proofs of address (utility bill, bank statement, appointment letters etc. etc.) dated within the last eight weeks which corresponds with the address on your licence.
These documents can either be paper copies or shown to us using a smart phone, whichever is easier. Failure to be able to produce these will result in the hire not being able to proceed and no refund given, so please check you also have access to these before booking.

    Opening Times & Hire Periods

Just a quick update of a couple of changes which are coming into effect...

From the 14th June we will be re-opening on Sundays with our normal opening times of 8am to 10am (vehicle collections will be between 9-9:30am).

½ day hires (9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm) & overnight hires (4:30pm-8am) will still not be available until further notice.

and finally, due to the ongoing virus situation we are trying to gather as much information as possible from our hirers before they arrive, and to do this at the time of booking we will be asking for driving licence numbers, national insurance numbers and licence postcode so that we can do the DVLA check before you arrive thus reducing the amount of time you will actually need to be in our office area.

    Vehicle Reservations and Deposit Update

Just a quick recap about reserving our vehicles and also our new deposit system.

To reserve any vehicle you will need to use a credit/debit card which will be charged immediately for the cost of the hire period. No monies will be refunded in the event of any alterations, date changes, cancellations or no shows so please make sure that your dates are confirmed before booking (Please note that if the driver is not the cardholder, then the cardholder will also need to be present at the time of collection).

Also as of today we are starting to take a deposit of £250.00 at the time of vehicle collection, so please take this into account as NO vehicle will be released to you without this being paid.

    Second Pieces Of I.D.

Just a quick reminder that we need TWO pieces of I.D. which contain both proof of address and to be dated within the last eight weeks to do any hire.

These can be bank / credit card statements, utility bills, tax letters etc.

We know alot of people have gone paperless and your choices may be limited, but we can also accept a printed document or even be shown the information through a smart phone or tablet device.

Are Your Driving Licence Details Up To Date?

We still get customers arriving who have not updated their licence details with the DVLA, which could restrict your ability to hire a vehicle from us.

To update the address on your licence please visit the DVLA website at:

    https://www.gov.uk/change-address-driving-licence

This is FREE to do, so there's no reason not to, plus you can be fined up to £1000 if you don't keep your records up to date.

Additionally please check that your photocard licence is still valid (section 4b), because if this has expired when you come to collect your vehicle we will not be able to do the hire.

More details about renewing your licence can be found here:

    https://www.gov.uk/renew-driving-licence

    Photocard Licence's

Can all customers please check the expiry date on the photocard driving licence to make sure it is still valid.
     photo CJPelNNWwAAGwtn.jpg large.jpg
They do need to be renewed every 10 years and it appears that the DVLA has notified some but not all.
Also can you please make sure the address is correct on your licence because this can also affect the ability to hire any vehicle.

    Tip Permits

Please be aware that if you are using one of our vans to visit the tip you do need to obtain a FREE permit from your local council.

This can be done by either ringing 0300 123 6781 or by filling out the online form on the council website but do allow a few days for the permit to be delivered.

Also be aware they will NOT allow any vehicles with more than 4 wheels to enter any of the tips.

    Card Bookings / Payments

Due to a change in our banking and security systems unfortunately we cannot accept any reservations or payments by customers using any form of Top Up Cards or Electronic Use Only cards any more.

Can you please check that your card does not say 'Electronic Use Only' anywhere on the card as we will not be able to use it if it does.

    Vehicle Reservations

As most of our customers are aware we do need a credit/debit card in order to reserve any vehicle.
We do take immediate payment to complete the booking and at this point it is non refundable.

If for whatever reason the card declines we will try to make contact to either make sure funds are available in that account or for you to supply different card details.

IF WE CANNOT CONTACT YOU THE BOOKING WILL NOT BE COMPLETED AND NO VEHICLE WILL BE RESERVED FOR YOU.

Please make sure that you have sufficient funds in your account before trying to make a booking to avoid any embarrassment.
